Intermediate First Aid training
Intermediate First Aid (formerly Standard First Aid) trains you, as a workplace first aider, in more complete skills so you can give a broader scope of emergency first aid to an injured or ill worker.
About the course
An instructor-led course designed to comply with CSA Standard Z1210-17. It's ideal if you want or need complete first aid and CPR/AED knowledge for your workplace, school or personal interest. CPR and AED skills are taught in all our first aid courses.
Experienced first aiders with a current certificate can take the one-day recertification course instead. An Intermediate First Aid certificate can be recertified once.
Level A content
- Roles and responsibilities of a first aid provider
- First aid legislation and regulations
- Emergency scene management
- Shock, unconsciousness and fainting
- Head and spinal injuries
- Cardiovascular emergencies
- Adult CPR/AED and choking
- Asthma and severe allergies
- Bleeding and wound care
- Burns
- Secondary survey
- Medical emergencies, including diabetic emergencies and seizures
- Mental health emergencies
- Poisoning
- Heat and cold injuries
- Bone, joint and muscle injuries
- Chest injuries
- Eye, ear and nose injuries
- Caring for an injured or ill worker during transportation
- Triage and management of several injured or ill workers
Level C content
Everything in Level A, plus child and infant CPR/AED and choking.
Language
